In A Shadow of Myself I wanted to explore something that is very close to me in non obvious way. As a person with depression I have recently become concerned with my own mental stability. I am often afraid of relapsing into manic and depressive episodes. I wanted to communicate how I both hide this fear from people in my life, as well as making something invisible become visible. I also wanted to take something that is utilitarian like a military balaclava and make it into something that it's not by embellishing it to the point that it's use is mostly erased.
